We believe that qualified teachers are uniquely positioned to provide outstanding tuition. However, we also recognise that not all qualified teachers excel in their craft. That’s why all of our tutors are not only certified educators but have also successfully passed our rigorous assessment process, proving they are truly exceptional teachers!

Why do our tutors cost what they do?
They are all experienced qualified teachers.
Many of our school entrance tutors have significant experience and track records in preparing students for competitive school entrance exams
Many of our tutors are also examiners
They have achieved academic excellence themselves
Many of our tutors have achieved other relevant skills such as qualifications to assist students with special educational needs
How can I save money when using an Owl Tutor
Consider online tuition if you have not already done so. Most students at KS2 or above will have no problem engaging just as efficiently with an online tutor than a face to face one. Face to face tuition can be up to 50% more expensive for the same tutor!
Consider shorter sessions. Most tuition sessions are one hour. 40 minute sessions can often be effective and could reduce your fees by 33%.
Find out if there are times that you can offer to your tutor that are more convenient for them. Most tutors find it difficult to fill their hours during the day (9am to 3pm) in the week. Many of them will accept lower rates at these times.
How do our fees work?
Our tutors set the rates that they wish to be paid on each job. The rate that they will request will be dependent on a number of factors including:
The rate they wish to earn per hour
Whether the job is face to face or online
How much preparation time is required for each session
The tutor's remaining availability

Julia's biography
Julia started her teaching career in 2010 after having completed a CELTA in London. She then went to live for a year in Taiwan teaching English in a local primary school. She also tutored after school both children and adults and found it most rewarding and enjoyable. After having completed an Early Years PGCE from Cambridge University in June 2012, she worked as a full time primary school teacher at Hill House International School and Abercorn Place School teaching English, Mathematics, Science, Art, History, Geography, drama and PSHE.
Julia mainly tutors KS1 and KS2 children and really enjoys the interaction one to one as opposed to teaching in the classroom. She has tutored professionally since 2012 and has covered a range of subjects including Mathematics and English for 7+ and 8+. In December 2014 she ran a Mathematics 7+ and 8+ Christmas revision course. Since 2016 Julia has been teaching on 7+ and 8+ English courses during school holidays. She has successfully tutored many children who were originally struggling to achieve the right grades for entrance to their prep schools. Most recently she intensively tutored several children whose parents were keen for them to get into one of the top prep schools, she was extremely pleased that they were all offered a place at their first choice schools. She is currently tutoring children for the 7+ and 8+ exams for January 2024.
Julia’s passion lies in tutoring young children of mainly 4-8 years old. She is a patient, engaging and a fun teacher who very much wants to inspire and get the best out of each child.
Julia has worked as a Learning Officer in a museum running school workshops and family activities. When she is not in a museum or tutoring, she enjoys taking photographs, hiking, rock climbing and golf.
