Kate

Kate is a highly experienced educator with a strong track record of supporting students across a wide range of subjects and levels. She has taught all three sciences at Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, specialising in Physics at A-level, and has also taught Mathematics up to AS level. Alongside this, Kate has extensive experience preparing students for the Common Entrance exams, with a particular focus on Maths and Science, as well as supporting pupils in their 11+ and 13+ preparations across Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English, and Maths.

Kate has also worked with older students preparing for university entrance, guiding them through PMAT exams and interview preparation. Her expertise spans the full age range, having supported children as young as five with their speech, language and communication needs to help them access learning effectively. As a qualified SENCO, Kate has significant experience working with students with a wide variety of special educational needs, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism spectrum conditions, attention deficit disorders, and delayed learning.

In addition to her teaching practice, Kate is an experienced examiner at GCSE level, having marked papers across all three sciences and contributed to question writing. She has recently applied to undertake a doctorate in education, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing her expertise in the field.

Kate’s teaching philosophy centres on building positive, supportive relationships with each student she works with. She encourages dialogue so that learners feel confident sharing ideas and reflecting on what works best for them. By taking a metacognitive approach, she helps students develop self-awareness about how they learn, instilling effective learning habits that build confidence, foster resilience, and enable them to recognise their own progress. Whether boosting confidence in maths, refining exam technique, or guiding preparation for high-stakes assessments, Kate ensures that every student feels empowered to achieve their best.
