We believe that qualified teachers are uniquely positioned to provide outstanding tuition. However, we also recognise that not all qualified teachers excel in their craft. That’s why all of our tutors are not only certified educators but have also successfully passed our rigorous assessment process, proving they are truly exceptional teachers!

Many of our tutors have achieved other relevant skills such as qualifications to assist students with special educational needs
How can I save money when using an Owl Tutor
Consider online tuition if you have not already done so. Most students at KS2 or above will have no problem engaging just as efficiently with an online tutor than a face to face one. Face to face tuition can be up to 50% more expensive for the same tutor!
Consider shorter sessions. Most tuition sessions are one hour. 40 minute sessions can often be effective and could reduce your fees by 33%.
Find out if there are times that you can offer to your tutor that are more convenient for them. Most tutors find it difficult to fill their hours during the day (9am to 3pm) in the week. Many of them will accept lower rates at these times.
How do our fees work?
Our tutors set the rates that they wish to be paid on each job. The rate that they will request will be dependent on a number of factors including:
The rate they wish to earn per hour
Whether the job is face to face or online
How much preparation time is required for each session
The tutor's remaining availability
Kaye was fantastic in preparing our son for the 7+ exams. He lessons were always fun and engaging and our son improved considerably with her help. Kaye was also fantastic about advising us on extra work to do during the week to help consolidate the learning from her lessons.
Kaye's biography
Kaye has eight years of experience (2012 - 2020) as a Key Stage 1 class teacher in London and is available to tutor children of all primary school ages. She is an Oxbridge and Durham University Graduate (BSc from Durham University, MSc from the University of Oxford, MPhil and PGCE from the University of Cambridge). Since 2020, she has tutored a wide range of pupils (from nursery to Year 5).
In 2012, when working in an independent school, she began tutoring pupils to support their school learning and to prepare them for the 7+ and 8+ entrance exams. In 2017, she began leading 7+ English workshops during the school holidays and continues to do so as well as further developing expertise with 8+ workshops. During her classroom-based teaching years, she has taught many EAL pupils who have made fantastic progress with their English and in turn have gained much confidence.
Kaye enjoys planning engaging lessons, tailoring them to specific individuals and delivers them with enthusiasm, endless patience, and with a wide variety of methods to suit different learning styles. She motivates her pupils by giving meaning to their learning goals, emphasising how these are relevant to their lives in the present or future. In lessons, she identifies and provides clear learning objectives, and provides feedback to both pupils and parents on how they further progress and achieve their goals. She strives to nurture resilience, confidence, curiosity and independence, equipping children with essential skills for learning required throughout their academic careers and beyond.

School entrance experience
Kaye has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
In 2012, Kaye was a Year 1 teacher at an independent school in London. As this school only went up to Year 3, she had begun tutoring children in Year 1, 2 and 3 from the same school, using feedback from class teachers to support pupils in their exam preparation (7+ and 8+ entrance exams). Having left in 2015, she continued tutoring pupils. She has also been teaching holiday workshops (mostly 7+ preparation workshops) since 2017.
From 2019 - 2020, she was a Year 2 teacher at The Merlin School. Teaching the top set in English (Set 1 of 4) and the second set in Maths (Set 2 of 4), most of her pupils in these groups took the 7+ exams and have gone on to a wide range of schools.
