Samantha is a qualified teacher and experienced 7+, 11+, 13+ and GCSE Maths and English tutor with over 20 years' experience. Her subject knowledge is excellent, having contributed to a number of 11+ Practice Papers, as well as acting as a content consultant for various KS2 Study Guides, Teacher Guides and Workbooks. She has also co-authored eight GCSE English Language and Literature Study Guides, Revision Guides. and Workbooks.
Moreover, while online tutoring was still in its infancy, she worked as a consultant for the Classroom of Tomorrow Project, and the insights gained in the course of this research project have enabled her to adapt her teaching resources to ensure they are both effective and engaging for the age and level of the student in an online environment.
As an English tutor, she takes a flexible approach tailored to the student’s unique profile, for example, providing creative techniques for students who struggle to get started in order to loosen up their inner muse, and a more structured approach for students who have plenty of ideas but struggle to logically and coherently organize their writing and responses.
As a 1:1 Maths tutor, she sees her role as something of an online Maths detective, searching for those missing links in understanding that students themselves may not be aware they have — gaps that can be easily missed in a classroom setting yet once identified and addressed see students making rapid progress.
Samantha has extensive SEN experience in the following areas: ADHD / ADD, Anxiety / Depression / Agoraphobia, ASD, SEMH, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia and Dysgraphia, as well as experience with students in hospital education facing a range of physical challenges.
She believes that confidence, motivation and student-tutor rapport are fundamental to a successful online learning experience for students and is committed to providing an online learning environment and resources that inspire both.
She is friendly, supportive, motivating, and 100% committed to her students' success.
