We believe that qualified teachers are uniquely positioned to provide outstanding tuition. However, we also recognise that not all qualified teachers excel in their craft. That’s why all of our tutors are not only certified educators but have also successfully passed our rigorous assessment process, proving they are truly exceptional teachers!

There are no registration fees. This means that you can meet a tutor without having to pay anything. You will only be invoiced if you engage one of our tutors to deliver tuition after having discussed your requirements with them.
Why do our tutors cost what they do?
They are all experienced qualified teachers.
Many of our school entrance tutors have significant experience and track records in preparing students for competitive school entrance exams
Many of our tutors are also examiners
They have achieved academic excellence themselves
Many of our tutors have achieved other relevant skills such as qualifications to assist students with special educational needs
How can I save money when using an Owl Tutor
Consider online tuition if you have not already done so. Most students at KS2 or above will have no problem engaging just as efficiently with an online tutor than a face to face one. Face to face tuition can be up to 50% more expensive for the same tutor!
Consider shorter sessions. Most tuition sessions are one hour. 40 minute sessions can often be effective and could reduce your fees by 33%.
Find out if there are times that you can offer to your tutor that are more convenient for them. Most tutors find it difficult to fill their hours during the day (9am to 3pm) in the week. Many of them will accept lower rates at these times.
How do our fees work?
Our tutors set the rates that they wish to be paid on each job. The rate that they will request will be dependent on a number of factors including:
The rate they wish to earn per hour
Whether the job is face to face or online
How much preparation time is required for each session
The tutor's remaining availability
Julie 's biography
Julie is a kind and empathetic teacher with over fourteen years experience in the classroom. As a class teacher and tutor she has successfully prepared students for the 7+ and transition to Year Three and has experience teaching children on each step of their learning journey from Reception through Key Stage One. Currently, she is a Year Two teacher and English Coordinator at a leading independent school in London that achieves outstanding academic results. She has a degree in music from Trinity College Dublin and a PGCE from the University of Exeter where she was awarded the Ted Wragg Award for Outstanding Achievement.
Julie’s style marries creativity with rigour and she incorporates growth mindset dialogue into all lessons in order to empower learners to fully actualise their potential and to go beyond. She prides herself on building relationships and getting to know learners’ interests to plan and teach personalised, challenging lessons. She also believes that learners are motivated by assessment and so every lesson incorporates personalised targets and self-reflection skills. She is flexible in her approach to teaching and knows that the learning environment has a causal relationship on attainment. With this in mind, she utilises play and games to further reinforce knowledge and skills.
Previously, while working at the New School in Exeter, Julie prepared Year Two students for entrance to local Junior Schools. In her current role, she teaches Year Two children in preparation for their transition to Year Three in a well regarded North London independent school. She has also successfully tutored 7+ entrance to Sydenham GDST and Magdalen College School.
