Toma is a qualified teacher with QTS, BSc in Psychology and MSc in Human Resource Management. She offers maths tutoring to all primary school students, including preparation for 4+, 7+ and 11+ assessments. She can also assist with home schooling and strengthening specific subject-related areas to build your child’s confidence.
Toma considers herself to be a patient, enthusiastic, positive and empathetic person and she focuses on individual needs of every child. It is highly rewarding to her when she sees her students flourish and progress throughout her tutoring sessions. She has been teaching within independent UK schools, in both KS1 and KS2, and she has been tutoring children between 4 and 11 years old.
Toma is passionate about one-to-one personalised tutoring as she believes this makes a huge difference to the child's learning and confidence. Every child has different ways of grasping new concepts. Toma makes sure that she tailors her tutoring and uses various teaching techniques in order to meet her students' needs. She creates enjoyable and fun learning environment by using a variety of resources and educational games, exploring different ways and methods and encouraging strategic thinking.
During the first session, Toma makes sure she understands the aims of the parents and students and gets an awareness of the learning areas that need to be addressed. She conducts an initial assessment to determine the child’s level and misconceptions. After each session, she provides individual and ongoing feedback to parents and students.

Toma has successfully completed the Owl Tutors training course in 11 Plus exam preparation. This means they have a thorough understanding of the structure, content and demands of these exams and are qualified to prepare students. Training is delivered by Holly, a highly experienced school entrance tutor and member of the Owl Tutors team.
