Tutor profile - Arul

Arul studied at the City of London school for boys and went on to gain his degree in sociology at the London Guildhall University. After a career working in administration in Higher Education, he trained to become a primary school teacher. He studied at the University of Gloucestershire, completing the Graduate Training Programme at the Urban Learning Foundation.

As a highly experienced teacher, he has been working in primary education for over fifteen years. His experience includes working in a range of inner London schools with high areas of need. Although he as worked predominantly in upper KS2 he has had experience in working in all year groups from nursery upwards. He has worked as computing lead and is currently the online safety lead at his school. He is known for his patient manner with children and innovative ways of ensuring that all children are able to access the curriculum successfully.

He has successfully tutored children for their year 6 SATS tests in groups within schools and with children individually. This has been coupled with running booster groups with younger children in literacy and numeracy, to ensure that they reach expected levels of attainment.

He has had extensive experience tutoring children privately at primary school level. His specialty is in the adaptation of work to meet children's needs and working with children with special educational needs.

In his spare time he likes to write and has recently had a poem published. He is also a keen martial artist and practices Muay Thai in his spare time.
