Competencies Assessed by Owl Tutors

Great tutors will be able to display great competencies through their current and previous actions and behaviours. The competencies that we assess are as follows.

Interaction

Owl Tutors are expected to be able to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders. They can build rapport quickly and vary their teaching style to suit the needs of the learner. Assessed through: Interview, planned lesson and references.

Knowledge

Owl Tutors need to be knowledgeable of the subjects that they tutor, have a thorough understanding of the processes of Owl Tutors and to be familiar with particular qualifications and examination requirements. Assessed through: CV and references.

Planning and organising

Owl Tutors will need to plan ahead to ensure that lessons meet the intended goals for tuition. They will need to be punctual and be able to effectively manage their commitments. Assessed through: Interview, planned lesson and references.

Teaching ability

Owl Tutors will need to be exemplary teachers. They must be able to accurately assess student levels and teach engaging lessons in order to work towards goals of the students successfully. Assessed through: Interview, planned lesson and references.

Problem solving

Owl Tutors will be expected to be able to find rapid and innovative solutions to many of the situations that arise in one to one tutoring environments. They will need to be creative and resourceful to adapt to unplanned changes. Assessed through: Interview.

Integrity

Owl Tutors are expected to be reliable and tenacious. Owl Tutors are expected to be honest and consistent in order to help their students progress as quickly as possible. Owl Tutors are expected to stand behind the commitments that they make. Assessed through: Interview and general logistics.
