How much can private tutors earn?

Private tutors can earn a significant amount of money, depending on their qualifications, experience, and location. Tutors typically charge by the hour and rates can vary widely depending on the subject, level of instruction, and location.

Our net rates of pay currently range from £35 to £100 per hour. The tutors commanding the highest rates tend to be able to access highly affluent areas (certain areas in London) and have a proven track record in a field that experiences high, niche demand such as school entrance experience to particular schools or Pre-U or IB specialism. Online tuition and subjects with a greater supply of potential tutors such as GCSE and A-level tuition tend to command less.

New tutors will have a price cap applied to their maximum rates. This will be determined by the maximum rate that tutor is likely to be able to earn, based on data we hold, and will be communicated ahead of any interview.
