Expectations of Tutors

We expect tutors to display the key competencies assessed during the interview process at all times. Once a tutor has been accepted to be represented by Owl Tutors we expect the following:

Tuition sessions

High Standards of Tuition

  • Set clear, ambitious and achievable goals for each student at the beginning of tuition and strive to meet those goals through delivering exceptionally planned and executed lessons.
  • Review student goals on a monthly basis and provide excellent feedback and suggestions for improvement to students through the timesheet system.
  • Strive to obtain positive feedback and reviews from clients at all times

Applications to New Tuition Roles

  • Honor agreed date and times that you offered for sessions with clients.
  • Hold availability for seven days after applying for a position.
  • Commit to the duration of the role or a minimum of 12 months unless the limitations of your availability have been clearly stated in your application.
  • Ensure the ability to travel to the client's preferred location before applying for a role.

Correspondence

Client and Agent Communication:

  • Ensure that your availability is always set correctly on your account.
  • Contact new clients as soon as you are able to and at least within 24 hours of receiving their contact details.
  • Notify Owl Tutors once the date and time of an initial meeting with the client are confirmed.
  • Follow up with Owl Tutors after the first lesson.
  • Maintain consistent contact with the client, responding to queries promptly and professionally.
  • Inform Owl Tutors promptly if a tutoring engagement will no longer continue or if you are experiencing any difficulties meeting the client’s needs with respect to their goals or timing requirements.
  • Update Owl Tutors of any changes in circumstances, such as home address or contact details.
  • Be easily contactable and check emails at least once a day.

Payment

Monthly Reports and Timesheets:

  • Complete monthly reports for each student alongside timesheets.
  • Submit reports and timesheets promptly by midnight on the last day of each month.
  • Expect payment on the 20th of each month for tuition completed in the previous month.
  • Note that late timesheet submissions can result in delayed payment and penalties.

Honouring Agreed Hourly Rates:

  • Honor the agreed hourly rate for a particular job.
  • Understand that Owl Tutors cannot increase the hourly rate once negotiated with the client.
  • Agree that, if applied, their maximum rates are capped by the price band they are placed in. This will be communicated at interview, and will be applied based on the tutor's likely earning potential.

Taxes

Confidentiality

  • Client confidentiality is essential and paramount. Please do not discuss your clients to other parties and always obtain permission from clients before approaching schools for information in relation to a student.

  • We like to work with tutors that are a pleasure to work with.
