Emma

Emma is a creative and dedicated educator with twelve years of Key Stage 1, 2 & 3 teaching and tutoring experience across the state and private sector. Throughout Emma's career, she has has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ and her students have consistently made brilliant progress. Emma began her studies at Bournemouth University, where she attained a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Communications and Media. Throughout her undergraduate degree, Emma opted to study English Literature units because of her passion for twentieth century literature and postmodernism.

Continuing with her studies and interest in English grammar, Emma completed a TEFL certification with TEFL England. She then went on to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) in Daegu, South Korea. She taught English in South Korean state and private primary schools for two years and learnt Korean to a conversational level. Alongside her teaching position, she tutored both children and adults in conversational English, and is experienced in planning and delivering individualised learning programmes.

Upon returning to London, she attained a PGCE through the University of East London and worked for three years in outstanding primary schools in North London. Emma worked in Year 3 and was graded as consistently outstanding in her lesson observations.

Emma is an avid traveller and then relocated to El Salvador for four years to teach in the British International School in San Salvador. Throughout these four years Emma worked as a Key Stage 2 teacher, as well as leading the school's numeracy curriculum as Head of Mathematics. Emma was involved in the writing and assessment of entry level exam papers, and worked as private tutor for individuals wishing to attend the school. Emma is a patient and supportive teacher who is able to form strong, positive relationships with her students. Emma inspires her pupils to have a growth mindset, and is a big advocate for mental health.

She is a certified Google Educator and loves to teach with technology. Emma is happy to give advice and additional digital resources to parents. Additionally, she has attained two professional certifications through Olevi Teacher and Leadership Courses which gives good and outstanding teachers a set of high level skills and strategies that enable them to become consistently and sustainably outstanding. She also speaks high intermediate Spanish.

Emma has also worked across SEND provisions in east London, supporting vulnerable SEMH learners, ensuring that learning was personalised and aligned with EHCPs. Using TeamTeach as a behavioural approach, Emma was able to engage learners and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
