Tutor profile - Wendy

Wendy spent over a decade as a primary school teacher specialising in English across Key Stages 1 and 2, during which time she achieved outstanding success with pupils exceeding expectations and many obtaining ‘greater depth’ in reading comprehension and creative writing at Key Stage 2 SATs. She then became a full-time online English tutor in 2019, specialising in teaching English to overseas students preparing for 11+ and 13+ entrance exams, and has recently supported children in securing places at Eton, Winchester and Harrow, passing the challenging Harrow Scholarship Test.

Wendy ensures that the needs and interests of individual pupils are placed first and foremost. She tailors bespoke lessons, taking into consideration their current ability and areas for development, enabling them to build and consolidate their skills and confidence in reading and writing whilst broadening their vocabulary. She equips each child with the skills needed to successfully tackle exam questions, breaking down each task so that they understand fully what is required.

In her spare time Wendy enjoys creative writing and is currently working on a range of projects with a view to publication, as well as singing and playing the violin.
