My son has been working with Ann for the last two months focusing on creative writing. We have noticed a real improvement in a short space of time and he is growing in confidence. The work he does each week varies and has covered creative writing, letter writing, use of persuasive language, holiday journals, debate focused articles discussing the pros and cons of zoos. Alongside this she has given him a vocab book to expand his knowledge, recommended reading etc. The feedback each week is constructive, balanced and honest. My son loves going to his session with Ann each week and feels really comfortable working with her. Thank you Ann!

Ann 's biography

Ann is a classroom teacher with over 25 years teaching experience in both the state and private sectors. She is currently employed as an English teacher at a private school in Cheshire where she has extensive experience in 11+ and Common Entrance entry examination preparation in English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning. She has a very high success rate in tutoring for selective school entry and has tutored English at GCSE and IGCSE level.

During her long teaching career, Ann has taught many children with a wide range of learning needs such as ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia and those experiencing hearing loss. She has held the SENCO role in school and supported parents in their child's individual learning journey. Ann starts the tutoring journey by establishing the young person's preferred learning style and by assessing current levels in the key areas.
Her friendly and approachable manner makes children feel secure and ready to learn!

Recent feedback from two of Ann's families can be read below:
'Ann was extremely professional from the offset. I was unsure whether my daughter was capable for the work but she promised she would always give me honest feedback. This was undoubtedly always Ann’s approach. Ann not only boosted my daughter’s confidence but mine too as a parent trying to support my daughter in her work. Ann advised me on further books, work and on how often to complete extra work at home. We received detailed feedback on my daughter's work after every lesson. This was extremely helpful as we could clearly see her progress.

My daughter excelled in her grammar school entrance exams which we were so pleased with but we also were pleased with the level of confidence that was achieved from my daughter which was most definitely aided by Ann. We are so pleased with Ann we currently sending my second daughter to her.

Here is what my daughter has said about Ann

‘At first I didn’t want to go but she made me feel comfortable and gave me the confidence to find answers to questions I found difficult. Ann understood quickly my strengths and weaknesses and how I learn. Ann was always organised and had a plan B if I completed the work. She was just really nice ! ‘

She is like gold dust !' (Parent, 11+ entry)

Another parent commented:

Ann has tutored both my daughters over the last few years. One to help with Year 6 STATS and one with the 11plus Grammar school entrance exam. Both girls benefited enormously from Ann’s tutoring and have gained confidence, knowledge and invaluable skills for their future education.

Ann was always patient, reliable and very kind to both girls. She explained problems well and set the right tasks and homework for the level they were at. She also communicated well with me and managed my expectations.

I would have no problems recommending Ann for tutoring any child as she worked wonders with both my daughters. I am pleased to say that my eldest daughter is going into her GCSES with the confidence Ann installed in her and my youngest passed her entrance exam and is due to start grammar school in September

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like any further information.' (Parent, GCSE prep and 11+ entry.)
