We believe that qualified teachers are uniquely positioned to provide outstanding tuition. However, we also recognise that not all qualified teachers excel in their craft. That’s why all of our tutors are not only certified educators but have also successfully passed our rigorous assessment process, proving they are truly exceptional teachers!

Why do our tutors cost what they do?
They are all experienced qualified teachers.
Many of our school entrance tutors have significant experience and track records in preparing students for competitive school entrance exams
Many of our tutors are also examiners
They have achieved academic excellence themselves
Many of our tutors have achieved other relevant skills such as qualifications to assist students with special educational needs
How can I save money when using an Owl Tutor
Consider online tuition if you have not already done so. Most students at KS2 or above will have no problem engaging just as efficiently with an online tutor than a face to face one. Face to face tuition can be up to 50% more expensive for the same tutor!
Consider shorter sessions. Most tuition sessions are one hour. 40 minute sessions can often be effective and could reduce your fees by 33%.
Find out if there are times that you can offer to your tutor that are more convenient for them. Most tutors find it difficult to fill their hours during the day (9am to 3pm) in the week. Many of them will accept lower rates at these times.
How do our fees work?
Our tutors set the rates that they wish to be paid on each job. The rate that they will request will be dependent on a number of factors including:
The rate they wish to earn per hour
Whether the job is face to face or online
How much preparation time is required for each session
The tutor's remaining availability
Sarah's biography
Sarah's teaching journey has been a varied journey leading her from the USA to Germany, South Korea, the United Kingdom and to Thailand. Over the past 18 years, she has worked as a class teacher developing English and language skills through a variety of methods, settings and strategies. After coming to the UK, Sarah developed a love of teaching the lower key stages and Year 2 especially became close to her heart. Through these experiences she also learned a love of Mathematics and deepened her subject knowledge across Key Stage 1, 2 and a bit of Key Stage 3 in the core subjects within the National Curriculum.
After working with very talented teachers and administrators in some wonderful international schools abroad, Sarah has refined her teaching strategies to individualise learning experiences for her students, taking into account all the little steps they need to feel confident, creative and knowledgeable in the skills that they learn. Her style of teaching and tutoring is to ensure children can make links across the curriculum and in real-life contexts. Her lessons vary from lively games to practical learning activities, to focussed activities for practising a new skill, and opportunities to show off and display what they have learnt.
Sarah is an open, curious and flexible teacher/tutor who finds ways to connect with every child. Getting to know a child's interests, likes, dislikes and goals, helps her to find ways to inspire a love of learning. When she was young, she was not the best reader, which made her school life difficult. She felt her confidence drop and her lust for learning ebb. It wasn't until Sarah started learning foreign languages with a teacher that believed in her that she began developing a love of learning and the confidence to try new things. In her experience as an educator, helping students to develop their confidence and self-esteem, has proven to ignite interests and improve skills in order to tackle critical thinking, foster language development and develop reasoning skills for problem solving. Sarah believes in every student's capacity to learn by creating challenges that stimulate excellence.
IB Experience
Sarah has undergone the Category 1 PYP training. She is familiar with thematic and project based learning and how it links to inquiry-based learning. She knows the IB learner profile.
