Helena

Dedicated Educator with a Passion for Inspiring Young Minds Tutor based in Crystal Palace and surrounding areas trained in 7+, 8+ and experience in supporting 11+. She is currently the SENCo for St Dunstan’s College Junior School. Additionally, Helena's experience in EYFS and KS1 ensures a depth of knowledge to support the 4+ entrance. Helena is currently a SENCo, supporting children across all primary ages with additional needs to develop knowledge, understanding and their communication skills.

Helena is committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. She firmly believes in the power of concrete and pictorial resources to enhance understanding, and views oral rehearsal, recall, and knowledge retention as cornerstones of effective learning.

With a decade of experience in the world of education, Helena brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and expertise to education. Helena’s journey began in Key Stage 1, before becoming an Early Years educator and phase leader. Over the years, her passion for teaching has deepened, leading her to expand her reach across all primary levels as a PPA cover teacher.

Helena’s tutoring philosophy centres on individualised instruction, tailored to the unique needs and learning styles of each student. As a qualified SENCo, Helena strongly believes in identifying gaps in knowledge, barriers to learning, and using tailored strategies to overcome these in order to guide children towards their academic goals with patience, encouragement, and a touch of humour. Working with the family is essential in supporting the child, and Helena will form a good relationship with each child or young person’s parents/carers in order to support them to thrive.

Whether it's bolstering foundation skills, preparing for exams, or overcoming specific challenges, Helena is here to support students on their learning journey. She is passionate about helping children discover their strengths, gain confidence, and unleash their true potential.
