Victoria has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
Victoria has successfully tutored English and maths for the 11+ (see list of schools above).
Victoria has six years’ experience at tutoring pupils in French, Spanish and English, and has most recently tutored children in preparation for success at the 10+, 11+ and at GCSE level. She graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2011 and qualified as a teacher through the prestigious Teach First programme. After teaching in Wolverhampton for two years she then moved to London, where she began teaching English alongside modern foreign languages. Realising that she loved teaching literature as well as language, she moved towards a more English-heavy timetable and was Head of Department at her school (English). During the summer exam season she is also an A Level Spanish marker.
She has an energetic and enthusiastic approach in the classroom and prides herself on being able to get the very best out of her pupils through hard work, humour and tailoring work to their specific needs. She has received a string of outstanding observation reports for her teaching and continuously researches innovative practice.
Victoria left teaching full-time in July 2017 to do a masters in Education and International Development at UCL. She achieved a distinction in her course and is currently doing a PhD in educational disadvantage with the Institute of Education at Manchester University. She is based in London as an embedded researcher at a school in West London as part of the PhD.
Victoria qualified to teach English in 2011, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE - Teach First) from University of Warwick .

"My daughter is benefitting hugely from Victoria’s tutoring. I met with my daughter's (rather strict and unyielding) English teacher yesterday and she said that my daughter has come on IN SPADES (as she put is) and is “really getting it”, so this is really down to Victoria’s work with her. She is also feeling much more confident, she says, and is much more able to identify and describe the more subtle layers of meaning in a text."

Parent of GCSE Spanish student, London
"Vicky’s role was to support our son to improve his writing/answering skills in the lead up to his GCSEs. In particular, he needed to identify the best way to demonstrate his comprehension and structure answers in a more effective way. Vicky concentrated on content, structure and grammar… plus gave him some last minute hints and tips to help him gain some crucial marks in the exams.
The aim was to achieve a grade B in both exams in August 2018.
Vicky was enthusiastic, yet patient and encouraging. She quickly identified his weaker areas and supported him with good questioning and ideas to help him tackle these head on…. With the emphasis on him to find the solutions.
Our son felt more confident about his ability to answer the longer, more complex questions, as he was able to plan his answers better after support. He became less concerned about his weak areas (eg spelling) and focused on achieving a better overall result.
Unfortunately, we did not see Vicky as much as we originally hoped (holidays and the fact that the exams were so early in the exam timetable!), however, the times we had were constructive and useful.
Vicky was flexible, punctual and friendly and it was a pleasure to work with her. I would not hesitate to recommend her.

Intercultural understanding is assessed in both of the IB language groups, yet according to IB Spanish examiner reports, even native speakers often demonstrate a lack of it. In this blog, Vicky sets out 5 easy things you can do to develop your understanding of this key assessment component.
