Katharine

Katharine is an experienced, caring, and motivated primary teacher, based in Battersea, seeking to support pupils through one-to-one tutoring. Having taught across the primary age range and prepared pupils successfully for 7+ and 11+ entrance exams, Katharine is excited to bring her classroom expertise to help your child flourish in their learning. Katharine completed her PGCE (2016) at the University of Exeter after her BA in Geography also at the University of Exeter (2015). She then developed her expertise through a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education at UCL (2021), which explored how conceptual reasoning and real-world problem-solving fosters deeper understanding; her dissertation examined how varying the position of the equals sign can strengthen pupils’ grasp of mathematical equality. Katharine is passionate about helping children to enjoy their learning, build self-confidence, and reach their potential. Katharine’s teaching combines warmth, structure, and creativity—through phonics, reasoning, engaging English activities, practical maths, and the use of engaging digital tools. Katharine has a special interest for verbal and non-verbal reasoning and teaches children clear strategies to help them identify correct answers. Recent tutoring experience includes: - Preparing a Year 5 pupil for the 11+, who went on to gain a grammar-school place. - Supporting a Year 2 pupil for the 7+, whose confidence and concentration improved markedly, earning him an academic scholarship.

Parents and teachers consistently note Katharine’s ability to motivate learners and adapt lessons to each child’s needs. In school settings, Katharine have also held leadership roles such as History and Trips Co-ordinator at Dolphin School and Wellbeing and Student Voice Lead at Fulham School —strengthening her organisational and communication skills. Katharine values professionalism, reliability, and building trusted relationships with families.
Outside of work, Katharine loves to go running, visit museums and art galleries and spend time with her friends and family in London and Norfolk.
