Tutor profile - Colin

Colin has worked as a primary school teacher in the independent sector for the last 7 years, giving him excellent experience of enriching students’ knowledge inside and outside of the classroom. His leadership roles have included Head of Culture and Diversity and Head of English as a Foreign Language, as well as teaching English and Mathematics amongst other subjects.

Having studied to be a teacher at St. Mary’s University, Twickenham, Colin qualified with a degree in Primary Education with QTS BA (Hons) in 2017. Since then he has worked hard as an educational practitioner and year group Mathematics and Religious Education Co-ordinator, dedicated to promoting student learning across a variety of curriculum areas. He is skilled in planning educational programmes that are engaging and fun, as well as culturally diverse and inclusive. His lessons have been classed as consistently outstanding.

Colin's expertise lies in KS2 Mathematics and 7+, having taught Year 2 and 3 for a number of years. However, he is also adept at tutoring English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, plus Mathematics, to Years 4-13 in both state and independent sectors. In addition to this, Colin has experience of teaching GCSE and A-level Mathematics, which he thoroughly enjoys.

From the point of qualifying as a teacher, Colin has strived to inspire and motivate his pupils. Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis is something Colin is truly passionate about. He believes each student should be treated as an individual and tailors each tutoring session to the academic and pastoral needs of that child, to make learning a really enjoyable experience. Having excellent rapport with his students, Colin is able to build on each pupil’s confidence. By really knowing and understanding your child on an individual level, Colin is able to unlock their true potential and draw on those unique aspects that will impress senior schools during your child’s interview and entrance examination.
