Jennifer tutored our son Finn and he really enjoyed and benefited from his sessions with her. Jennifer quickly got to know Finn and the work each week was tailored to his needs and interests. Jennifer set homework which she went through with Finn each week. She also provided really helpful feedback. We were really pleased with the progress that Finn made with Jennifer and would highly recommend her.

Jennifer's biography
Jennifer is an experienced Primary practitioner with a student centred approach to tuition which involves creating curiosity for the subject as well as building pupils' confidence in order to achieve success. Jennifer believes in discussing progress with the student at regular intervals to identify misconceptions and next steps and thereby allowing students to take charge of their own learning. This is done in an age appropriate way that builds confidence. Combined with quality teaching, Jennifer gives students the study skills and knowledge that they can apply to achieve exam success.
Jennifer completed a history degree at the University of Warwick before spending three years teaching English to Primary and Secondary school pupils in schools in Madrid and through private tuition. She is therefore experienced in teaching pupils with English as an additional Language. Jennifer completed her PGCE in Primary Education at Brunel University and has four years of UK classroom based experience in diverse London settings. She has a track record of facilitating good to outstanding progress in KS1 and 2. She has leadership experience acting as a coach to new teachers and leading RE across the school.
Currently Jennifer has left the classroom to become a full time tutor specialising in entrance exams (7+, 8+ and 11+), Maths and English. She is a dedicated tutor who takes the time to get to know her pupils' individual needs and targets in order to design a specific programme of study for them. Jennifer believes it is imperative that younger learners are given the opportunity to practice their learning in different contexts in order to embed their skills. For example in Maths using objects, real life word problems and games for learning, in English, reading and writing a range of genres. Most recently she has tutored a pupil in upper KS2 examination preparation and in a timescale of January to May achieved a 40% increase in attainment across all papers. Outside of teaching Jennifer has a keen interest in fiction and non-fiction writing and Spanish language and culture.
