Caroline is vastly experienced and yet very approachable and put our 7 year old daughter at ease immediately upon meeting her, despite her being somewhat mistrustful of teachers given some 'sub-optimal' experiences with her schooling to date. Caroline's biography
Caroline has over 22 years of experience as a teacher and has taught children from ages 3-13 across Private, Free and State schools. For the last 8 years, Caroline has been Head of English at a leading Prep School in Surrey. She has immense knowledge of the rigorous 11 and 13 plus processes and has vast experience in preparing pupils, of all abilities, for the senior school entrance exams, including successful scholarship preparation.
She is now working full time as a tutor, at home, online and in schools supporting a range of ages, working with students for 7plus examinations, 11 plus, 13 plus and GCSE clients.
Caroline regularly prepares pupils for entry to over 15 different senior schools around the local areas of Surrey and Berkshire, including Grammar school entry.
Her results are impressive each year, with first-choice senior school entry gained and 32-38% of varying abilities, consistently gaining scholarships from around 8 different senior schools.
Caroline’s passion and forte is to embed high-level vocabulary, elevate creative writing, break down the complexities of comprehension tasks, pick apart questions and modelling answers to enable accurate understanding.
She easily gains a rapport with tutees, putting them at ease and quickly builds confidence in pupils. A recent example of this: Caroline gained a new Year 6 tutee who was lacking confidence in English and was finding it difficult in school and so his mum was after some booster sessions to bring him up to speed. Within 3 weeks of seeing this pupil, his mum had fed back that her son now looked forward to Fridays and the time with Caroline and that he was already using some of the new vocabulary and techniques that had been taught during the tutor sessions, giving him confidence and a new interest in the subject.
As a full time tutor now, Caroline currently prepares pupils for 7 plus and 11 plus examinations to more than fifteen different schools across a range of counties, including: Surrey, London, Berkshire and Kent. She has accumulated vital knowledge of entrance examinations to a range of different schools and understands the requirements necessary for the Year 3 and year 7 transition.
This year, she has prepared children for multiple examinations and has had another successful year, enabling students to gain their first choices of schools, with many receiving personal feedback from the senior schools, in recognition of their high level of results.
Her students have also gained a number of scholarships across her 7 plus and 11 plus clients!

Caroline also tutors AQA GCSE English and is currently supporting many students on a 1:1 basis in local schools as well as online. She prides herself on her ability to quickly build rapport, imparting key knowledge to uplevel skills and giving students the confidence to access their independent work.

Caroline qualified to teach English in 2012, and holds a Qualified Teacher Status from Department for Education.
