Matthew's biography

Matthew was born in Dublin in 1983. He studied History at Oxford, Princeton and Manchester Universities. He was awarded a PhD by Manchester in 2009, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in 2012. He has taught History, Politics, Classics, English and RS in five HMC schools around the country; he was Head of Department for nearly ten years, as well as a pastoral and residential tutor in boarding houses. He now works as a part-time teacher, History and Politics examiner, teacher / educator trainer and assessment consultant. He is married with two daughters. He is also a University Challenge winner!

IB Experience

IB Standard and Higher at Charterhouse and KES Birmingham; successful in gaining lots of 7s, including Durham, Oxbridge and US universities. Lots of value added for weaker students and those with challenging health issues.
