We believe that qualified teachers are uniquely positioned to provide outstanding tuition. However, we also recognise that not all qualified teachers excel in their craft. That’s why all of our tutors are not only certified educators but have also successfully passed our rigorous assessment process, proving they are truly exceptional teachers!

Why do our tutors cost what they do?
They are all experienced qualified teachers.
Many of our school entrance tutors have significant experience and track records in preparing students for competitive school entrance exams
Many of our tutors are also examiners
They have achieved academic excellence themselves
Many of our tutors have achieved other relevant skills such as qualifications to assist students with special educational needs
How can I save money when using an Owl Tutor
Consider online tuition if you have not already done so. Most students at KS2 or above will have no problem engaging just as efficiently with an online tutor than a face to face one. Face to face tuition can be up to 50% more expensive for the same tutor!
Consider shorter sessions. Most tuition sessions are one hour. 40 minute sessions can often be effective and could reduce your fees by 33%.
Find out if there are times that you can offer to your tutor that are more convenient for them. Most tutors find it difficult to fill their hours during the day (9am to 3pm) in the week. Many of them will accept lower rates at these times.
How do our fees work?
Our tutors set the rates that they wish to be paid on each job. The rate that they will request will be dependent on a number of factors including:
The rate they wish to earn per hour
Whether the job is face to face or online
How much preparation time is required for each session
The tutor's remaining availability
Sarah is a wonderful person and was very supportive through our journey. She really got to understand the children and used methods individual to each child’s strengths and weaknesses. I would definitely recommend her and use her again. I wish her all the best in the future.

Sarah's biography
Sarah is an upper primary teacher who specialises in online 11+ tuition for students in Years 4 , 5 and 6 (8- 11 year old). With over 10 years of experience, her speciality is preparing students for entry into competitive secondary schools in both London day schools and boarding schools further afield in the UK.
In the past, Sarah has helped students successfully gain entry to their chosen schools, sometimes with scholarships being offered.
Sarah uses an online interactive whiteboard for lessons, similar to the interactive board found in the school classroom which allows both parties to annotate, write and highlight on the screen. The work for every lesson is prepared from scratch according to the weaknesses identified from an initial assessment. Where applicable, Sarah loves to incorporate games or activities to make her lessons fun and interactive.
Sarah is a Cambridge graduate with a Masters Degree in Education. After graduating from the University of Cambridge, she worked at oversubscribed schools in both state and independent sectors in the UK. She has also taught internationally and was one of the founding teachers at Harrow International School in Hong Kong. Sarah is also a "old girl" of Guildford High School.
IB Experience
Sarah is familiar with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). She taught PYP for 2 years at an international school in Hong Kong.

Sarah's qualifications
Sarah qualified to teach Primary education in 2008, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from The University of Cambridge.
I asked my daughter what she thought of Sarah and she was very positive about her. We used Sarah's tuition mostly to help on English, as she was struggling a bit with comprehension, and also to help her with exam technique. My daughter told me that Sarah was very funny in teaching, which she loved and that she gave her really great tips on how to tackle exam questions.
We did not use Sarah for the math part, as my daughter was already attending Mathnesium near our house, so I cannot comment on this. But it seems that Sarah's style really suited her. She was also very good at sending mock exam papers, correcting them promptly and going through them in detail with her, in a way that was apparently very helpful to her. Her monthly comments were very helpful to me too.
