Sarah has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
Sarah is a Cambridge graduate with a Masters Degree in Education. She is a UK-qualified primary teacher with 6 years of experience and has worked in both state and independent schools. She has also taught internationally for Harrow and was one of their founding teachers when an exclusive British boarding education was brought to Hong Kong.
Prior to teaching in Hong Kong, Sarah taught in two oversubscribed schools in Surrey, the county where she grew up. Sarah went to Guildford High School and left at 18 to study Fine Art before going on to train as a teacher at the University of Cambridge. It was there that she also gained her Masters degree in Education.
Sarah has experience working with children from a range of academic and social backgrounds and is able to build excellent rapport with children through a good sense of humour, knowledge and patience. She uses her creativity in everyday teaching and tailors lessons to individual learning needs so that she can help students reach their goals. Where applicable, Sarah loves to incorporate games or ICT to make learning fun and interactive.
With her 6 years in primary teaching, Sarah makes an ideal tutor to help students to build confidence in their learning, whether it be with general school support or 7+ or 11+ exam preparations. Since becoming a tutor, she has helped students successfully gain places at Cheltenham Ladies College and Latymer Prep amongst others.
Sarah qualified to teach Primary education in 2008, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from The University of Cambridge.

Parents often ask what I think about children and their use of technology at home. Should I let my child read a book on the Kindle? Are learning apps any good? My child spends a large amount of time watching videos on YouTube, should I be concerned?

When conducting online tutoring, a teaching platform is used. This is basically an online software that allows files such as worksheets and tests to be uploaded on to a shared screen that is seen by both student and tutor. The shared screen usually comes with tools for editing/ typing/ drawing shapes/ annotating so that both parties can work collaboratively. Many of these teaching platforms also come with integrated video software so you don't need to have Skype on separately. All in all, making the experience a very interactive process.
