David studied Music at York University during the years 1988 - 1991 before taking his PGCE at Leeds University, gaining qualified teaching status in 1992. He has worked in a range of schools ranging from traditional Prep schools, Grammar schools and a 2-16 through school. David has over 30 years' experience in teaching, with much of his career involving the teaching of English (to all Years between 5 -11), Maths (to Years 3-8) and school entrance assessment preparation for pupils at 7+, 11+ and 13+.

David is hugely experienced teaching the skills of verbal and nonverbal reasoning, the four components of the CAT4 assessment, English comprehension and creative writing (including developing skills in punctuation and grammar), Maths for up to 13+ preparation and interview technique and practice since these form an integral part of a school entrance assessment.

David served as a Deputy Head (Academic) for 18 years and he currently works for ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) inspecting other schools. David also acted as SENCo for 15 years and holds considerable experience meeting the individual learning needs of pupils with SEN. He understands Educational Psychologist reports and can take recommendations from them to apply into his tutoring work.

David is married with three boys (aged 19, 16 and 13), two ridiculously affable dogs and his interests include music, sport, hiking, reading, travel and musical theatre. David has tutored for many years with great success and feels that the professional relationship between tutee and tutor can be a rich and rewarding one - both for the pupil and for him.
