Explanation: At the beginning or middle of words, the ‘j’ sound is often (but not always) spelt as g before e, i, and y.

Teaching Ideas: Present your child with the incorrect spellings (jiant, jiraffe, majic etc.) and ask them to tell you what’s wrong. Correct the spellings together and ask them to identify the rule you have discovered.
