Explanation: If a suffix starts with a consonant letter, it is added straight on to most root words without any change to the last letter of those words.

Teaching Ideas: Give your child a list of the root words (enjoy, sad, care) and a list of the suffixes (ness, ment, ful). Ask them to make as many words (spelt correctly) as possible in 2 minutes.
