Jacqueline has been an excellent 11 plus tutor. My girls have learnt a huge amount and feel well equipped going into the exam, as well as significantly improving their English language and creative writing skills in general.

Jacqueline's biography
Jacqueline is an enthusiastic, experienced and creative teacher who can personalise learning and engage students at all levels. Jacqueline studied Classical Archaeology at King's College London before completing a Primary PGCE and gaining Qualified Teacher Status in 2003. She has taught across the primary age range from ages 4-11 and spent ten years as Curriculum and Assessment Lead and Deputy Headteacher. While she is experienced at teaching across all subject areas in EYFS, KS1 and KS2, her passion and specialism is teaching English, which she has taught to children in all Key Stages, from up to GCSE level.
Jacqueline has taught children working towards Greater Depth in reading and writing in Year 6 and general SATs preparation in maths and English. She gained her Master's in Education in 2019, graduating with a Distinction and her academic research on reading and identity is currently being edited for publication. Since 2021, she has worked successfully as a private tutor, supporting children with 11+ and 13+ exam preparation, English Language GCSE and English Literature GCSE. She also works as an Associate Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at Brunel University and previously at London Metropolitan University, supervising trainee teachers with practical and academic work and supervising Master's students with final dissertation projects. She also delivers training to Early Years Teacher Trainees and assesses school leaders' submissions for the National Professional Qualifications for senior leaders.
Jacqueline ensures that lessons are tailored to individual children's needs and revised through ongoing formative assessments. Her lessons are interactive and engaging, with a variety of tasks, games and strategies which ensure children make rapid progress. Helping children to become confident, independent learners is the most rewarding part of her role as a tutor. Given how crucial it is for children to have independent practice, homework is set which will both challenge children and give them the opportunity to consolidate skills taught in lessons. Jacqueline helps children to develop strong, independent study habits which are life-long, transferable skills.
Jacqueline’s students all gained places at their chosen independent and state grammar schools and she has been tutoring for the 11+ entrance tests since 2021. She supported students to gain places at: Aldenham, Dr. Challoner’s, The Latymer School, a scholarship at The Hampton School, Haberdasher’ Aske’s Girls' and Boys' Schools, Merchant Taylors’, UCS, City of London School, South Hampstead High School, Channing, Notting Hill, Ealing High School, St. Helen’s, North London Collegiate School, Belmont, Latymer, St. Paul's, Westminster and Dame Alice Owen's. Jacqueline has tutored students for the ISEB Pre-Test, the Buckinghamshire Consortium, the South West Herts Consortium and the London 11+ Consortium exams, including their new Puzzles and Problem-Solving and Cretive Comprehension tests. She has also helped students to prepare for the 11+ at King’s College Wimbledon where they have been successful in the first-round tests and invited to interview.
