Tutor profile - Emily

Emily has worked in both the state sector and the independent sector for over 30 years. She worked as a class teacher for the first part of her career, with experience of teaching from Year 3 to Year 6. For the final 13 years of her teaching life she worked at an independent school, specialising in teaching Mathematics from Year 1 to Year 8.

After obtaining an Advance Diploma in Overcoming Difficulties in Learning Mathematics in 2012, Emily focused on teaching Mathematics to children who found this subject difficult. She went on to take a Masters in Education in 2014 with an emphasis on the teaching of Mathematics. She was a breakout presenter at the National Conference for Dyscalculia and Maths Learning Difficulties.

After her retirement in 2021 Emily has worked as a private tutor preparing children for the Kent 11+, the 13+ and coaching a student for the Year 7 entrance exam to Tonbridge School. She has also worked as an online tutor for a state school with an emphasis on Literacy.
