Rachel

Rachel worked with my son ahead of his 7+ exams. She has a wonderful way of making learning enjoyable for young children, successfully guiding them through complicated concepts in bite-size chunks. Her teaching approach involves sharing memorable terms which my son still references in his school work. She is well versed in online tutoring and all lessons were conducted this way, very successfully. She also offered me guidance on additional learning resources I could reference to support my son’s learning and was always very responsive to ad-hoc questions.

Rachel was fantastic in building a strong rapport with our slightly quiet boy from the get go. Her primary focus with our son was to help him improve his creative writing skills for his 7+ assessments and she very patiently helped him with several frameworks and toolkits that really helped him structure his already very imaginative mind. We could certainly see a stark difference in how his stories were structured once he started with Rachel whilst completing them in the given timeframe - in fact one of the top school’s feedback was that his story writing was most impressive compared to his peers (and I would attribute that to Rachel’s guidance and help). She was also quite willing and flexible to give us further guidance on what we needed to do home to complement her sessions, and on various other queries about which schools to apply, their process, where our son fit in his peer group and what would be most suited to his personality. Finally, she ran a mock test which really helped my son build further confidence for the assessments and the interviews that would follow. Thank you Rachel!

Rachel has worked wonders with our summer-born, state school DD to secure a place in some of the most competitive schools in London! She built a wonderful relationship with DD almost instantly and somehow turned the demanding tasks of 7+ into fun activities for her. This made the past 6 months as enjoyable as possible for DD. The mock exam she organized was very useful for parents to understand areas for further improvement, as well as DD’s time management, highly recommended!

Rachel has been a great choice - our son has made huge progress since he started having his regular classes with her, and she has allowed us to find useful ways to support his learning at home in an enriching and non-pressurised way. Crucially, we have switched to online tutoring sessions which are working brilliantly. She has found original and engaging ways to keep our son interested but also learning: they read books together, work on his writing and maths, and his progress has accelerated if anything. Rachel has provided tutoring to my daughter for some time now (about 18 months) and I can thoroughly recommend her. My daughter has improved significantly in maths and English over this time and her confidence in these areas has improved greatly. Rachel also has helped her to prepare for the Seven Plus exams and she seems well set for these now. Importantly, my daughter has always looked forward to seeing Rachel and the sessions. Rachel has a great teaching style that makes learning fun.

Rachel really helped Bea grasp the foundations of mathematical concepts, story writing and English Comp etc. She made the sessions fun and most importantly ensured that our daughter had confidence to cope with the dreaded 7+.
