We believe that qualified teachers are uniquely positioned to provide outstanding tuition. However, we also recognise that not all qualified teachers excel in their craft. That’s why all of our tutors are not only certified educators but have also successfully passed our rigorous assessment process, proving they are truly exceptional teachers!

Why do our tutors cost what they do?
They are all experienced qualified teachers.
Many of our school entrance tutors have significant experience and track records in preparing students for competitive school entrance exams
Many of our tutors are also examiners
They have achieved academic excellence themselves
Many of our tutors have achieved other relevant skills such as qualifications to assist students with special educational needs
How can I save money when using an Owl Tutor
Consider online tuition if you have not already done so. Most students at KS2 or above will have no problem engaging just as efficiently with an online tutor than a face to face one. Face to face tuition can be up to 50% more expensive for the same tutor!
Consider shorter sessions. Most tuition sessions are one hour. 40 minute sessions can often be effective and could reduce your fees by 33%.
Find out if there are times that you can offer to your tutor that are more convenient for them. Most tutors find it difficult to fill their hours during the day (9am to 3pm) in the week. Many of them will accept lower rates at these times.
How do our fees work?
Our tutors set the rates that they wish to be paid on each job. The rate that they will request will be dependent on a number of factors including:
The rate they wish to earn per hour
Whether the job is face to face or online
How much preparation time is required for each session
The tutor's remaining availability
Judith put us at ease from the start. She is extremely kind and caring, as well as being hugely knowledgeable about the preparation required for 7+. Our daughter looked forward to her sessions with Judith and came away feeling confident and proud of her achievements.

Judith's biography
Judith graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2012 with a first class degree in Primary Education. She has vast experience of planning within the National curriculum and has had her teaching rated as “Outstanding” class teacher. With three years of academic study into how to teach Primary-aged children and a number of year's teaching experience in both the state and private sectors (she has taught in a prestigious London Pre-Prep), Judith makes the ideal 7 and 11 Plus tutor. She has also taken phonics courses specifically geared towards preparing students for the 7 plus. Her passion for education is apparent as she provides handmade resources and games that are tailored to her individual learners. She believes that for young children to succeed, they should be motivated and engaged in their learning, which is why she adopts an active approach to tutoring in which the children’s interests are tied into their academic work.
Judith has previously worked in Italy teaching English, and feels confident teaching those who have English as an additional language. Her experience includes planning for and assessing children aged 3 – 12 years old. She is now employed by Owl Tutors as a full time 7 and 11 Plus Tutor. She has an enviable record in supporting students with school entrance exams, having recently helped students prepare for Westminster Under, Colet Court, Latymer Prep, Westminster Cathedral, Haberdasher's, Highgate, Wetherby, South Hampstead, City of London School for Girls, North London Collegiate, University College School, Caldicott and Badminton.
Judith is a committed individual who aims to allow her pupils to reach their fullest academic potential by carefully creating a programme of work alongside the child and the parents, focusing on specific and achievable goals each month. Her enthusiastic teaching style has proven to motivate children and by learning through a combination of written work, oral work, games and activities, she is able to increase children’s confidence and engagement in learning as well as their academic progress.
Judith is currently Owl Tutors' lead 7 and 8 plus tutor. Judith has taken on the role of managing resource creation for our 7 and 8 plus tutors and writes blog posts and other material for the Owl Tutors website. Judith has also successfully completed the Owl Tutors' School Entrance training program. She understands the requirements for independent school's entrance exams and has been trained in how to prepare students for these exams.
Judith's qualifications
Judith qualified to teach Primary education in 2012, and holds a B.Ed (Hons) Primary Education from University of Strathclyde.
