Ally is an amazing teacher. She is patient, kind and knowledgeable. She was able to build my daughters confidence up in subjects she was previously apprehensive about. My daughter looked forward to her sessions and felt excited to learn.

Ally's biography

Ally has nine years worth of experience in education since qualifying as as an outstanding teacher through the prestigious Teach First programme (a fast-track teacher training scheme for high-achieving graduates). Ally obtained the highest-possible ratings for her teaching from Ofsted due to the exceptional progress her pupils made. Ally is an expert in the field of education with extensive experience in teaching, tutoring, education research and teacher training.

As a mother of two herself, she understands how to connect with her pupils and engage them in learning whilst holding high expectations for their achievements. Year on year her pupils have gained entrance to some of the UK's most prestigious schools such as Eton, St Paul's, Westminster, King's College School and Brighton College amongst many others. She loves education and this is reflected clearly in the strong relationships she builds and the results her students achieve.

Ally also has a wealth of experience supporting students with complex learning needs including: dyslexia, Asperger's, ADHD, global developmental delay and cerebral palsy. In addition she can tutor psychology (as she holds a first class degree in this subject) and has successfully tutored students taking A-Level, AP and IB examinations.

Adding to her skills as a teacher she is trained in child counselling and mindfulness, as such her life experiences enable her to offer a more holistic tutoring experience that thoughtfully encompasses the whole child in their learning endeavours. Tutees' parents consistently comment on the elevated confidence and esteem levels her pupils have gained from her sessions.

Ally succeeds by tailoring sessions to suit each individual student and believes that every child deserves the right opportunities to enable them to love learning and fulfil their potential. As tuition has moved online in response to Covid-19, Ally works hard to create a friendly and engaging virtual environment for her students in order for them to feel fully supported and gain the most benefit from tuition. This, alongside her innovative approaches to education makes her a great tutor.

Recent testimonials

Ally quickly got to the heart of the matter - creative writing - so the bulk of her work was in this area.

Ally took our son from a standing start to a fluent essay writer, providing guidance on types of writing, structure and planning. She was kind flexible and patient when dealing with a some time less than enthusiastic student.

We were delighted when our son was offered a place at MCS which we have taken up. Without Ally this may not have happened.
