Ally has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:
Ally has nine years worth of experience in education since qualifying as as an outstanding teacher through the prestigious Teach First programme (a fast-track teacher training scheme for high-achieving graduates). Ally obtained the highest-possible ratings for her teaching from Ofsted due to the exceptional progress her pupils made. Ally is an expert in the field of education with extensive experience in teaching, tutoring, education research and teacher training.
As a mother of two herself, she understands how to connect with her pupils and engage them in learning whilst holding high expectations for their achievements. Year on year her pupils have gained entrance to some of the UK's most prestigious schools such as Eton, St Paul's, Westminster, King's College School and Brighton College amongst many others. She loves education and this is reflected clearly in the strong relationships she builds and the results her students achieve.
Ally also has a wealth of experience supporting students with complex learning needs including: dyslexia, Asperger's, ADHD, global developmental delay and cerebral palsy. In addition she can tutor psychology (as she holds a first class degree in this subject) and has successfully tutored students taking A-Level, AP and IB examinations.
Adding to her skills as a teacher she is trained in child counselling and mindfulness, as such her life experiences enable her to offer a more holistic tutoring experience that thoughtfully encompasses the whole child in their learning endeavours. Tutees' parents consistently comment on the elevated confidence and esteem levels her pupils have gained from her sessions.
Ally succeeds by tailoring sessions to suit each individual student and believes that every child deserves the right opportunities to enable them to love learning and fulfil their potential. As tuition has moved online in response to Covid-19, Ally works hard to create a friendly and engaging virtual environment for her students in order for them to feel fully supported and gain the most benefit from tuition. This, alongside her innovative approaches to education makes her a great tutor.
Ally qualified to teach Primary education in 2011, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) from Institute of Education.

"Ally was a brilliant tutor for our 10 year-old son - despite the limited time, she prepared him beautifully for the 10+ examination and although he did not get an offer for an advance place, she has really improved his (and our) confidence in the whole process. We would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a patient, thoughtful tutor who is able to tailor each session to the specific needs of the child, and who is able to engage with and build a strong relationship with her pupils.

Mother of 10 plus student
"I engaged Ally after my daughter had a fairly dispiriting go at a couple of private school prep school entrance tests 7+. It became patently clear that the state system was not equipping her with some fundamentals in Maths - I felt she was more behind then she should have been, but she also hated learning with me. That being the agenda, we chose Ally, and for about 6 months she has come about 3 times a month for c1.5 hrs. The progress from that 1:1 attention was immediately noticeable. My daughter adores Ally and in fact cried when I said we wouldn't need her anymore as Ally moved her towards the goal of getting into the school we wanted. My daughter said that Ally was the best maths teacher that she had ever had. They did a lot more than maths though. Essentially Ally created a fun learning environment where my daughter wrote long letters and stories, happily did pages of maths work, and didn't tire of any of it. Ally is wonderful at creating an un-threatening learning environment, assessing your child and then working at the right pace - patient yet challenging. Thank you Ally for creating more confidence in my daughter for tackling maths, using creative words and in general helping her love to learn. We will not hesitate to contact you via Owl again if something is troubling my daughter."

"Ally worked with our daughter while in year 1 and in preparation for 7+ exams. Ally is a qualified teacher who has practiced as a teacher, and this was demonstrated in the work she did. For example, there was innovative coaching/teaching around story writing. We also felt that Ally engaged well with our daughter and managed to maintain focus and interest for each 1 hour session, covering Maths and English."
