Simon holds both a 2:1 BA Hons in Film Studies and Sociology and a PGCE in primary education. He has 3 A levels and 11 GCSEs. He is a 30 year old, fully qualified teacher, with experience in Years 3, 5 and 6. He has recently decided to pursue a career in tutoring and thus has resigned from his current year 6 post so that, as of September, he will be fully available as a tutor. He has experience tutoring 11+, and working with younger students on the 7+ examinations and has the ability to teach 13+ and even GCSE maths. Having already attained an A at GCSE he is currently studying for his A-Level in Maths too.
He has a strong grasp of both verbal and non-verbal reasoning, as well as having a particular strength in inspiring, encouraging and developing young and struggling writers. As someone who spends their free time writing books and short stories he regularly uses and adapts his own work to help children with their writing. This has been a very successful approach as it allows him to tap into the students interests and build on their strengths whilst trying to develop their weaknesses. He is committed to being a great teacher and prides himself on his work.
Simon qualified to teach Primary education in 2012, and holds a PGCE from University of Southampton.

"Simon undeniably extracted creative writing skills from our son that we did not know existed. Simon understands how to develop thinking and application. His style is warm and encouraging, yet positively directional when necessary. He has patience when a child is not focused and has tools to get a child interested quickly and effectively. Simon is the best tutor, it’s not just getting a child to follow his programme but he worked with us to understand his performance at school and apply himself to work on areas of concern."

"Simon is an amazing tutor. He helped my daughter to get her confident back and made her smile again.
I tried different tutors but none of them worked for my daughter until Simon came along. She is now confident in numeracy and literacy and is happy again to go back to school.
Thank you for all your amazing work and help Simon."

"Simon came to us as we felt our daughter needed a confidence boost after we relocated and she had joined a new school. She loved the sessions which covered both Maths and English and her confidence quickly increased enormously. She won a school place at 7+ & her school report this year recorded outstanding progress. We are very grateful to Simon for his time and guidance and have only positive things to say about the whole experience."

Simon, like all of our tutors, is a qualified teacher and has been interviewed by us personally. All of our tutors have at least two years of classroom teaching experience and come with fantastic references and criminal records checks.
