Emma's biography

Emma is a former Head of Languages Department, with over 14 years teaching experience in prep schools and academies. In addition to teaching French and Latin from beginner to GCSE levels, she has taught 13+ scholarship students every year, most of whom have won scholarships to schools including Westminster (Queen’s Scholarship), Eton (King’s Scholarship), Harrow, Radley, Haberdashers. She also has years of experience teaching Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning to prepare students for 11+ exams for highly competitive London independent secondary schools including South Hampstead, Haberdashers, North London Collegiate, Westminster, St Paul’s.

As no students are the same, Emma tailors lessons to each student, so they can achieve their very best and be confident. In addition, she teaches learning techniques and exam strategies, an important future skill. She is most proud not of her students’ achievements, but of how much they have enjoyed learning and look forward to the next year at school.

She has a personal Zoom account and lots of experience tutoring online.

School entrance experience

Emma has worked with children aiming to attend the following schools:

Every year since 2013 to present, I have tutored 1 - 5 boys and girls at 11+ for above schools (98% success rate). Some students had been absent from school, so missed vital parts of the curriculum but were still offered places at their chosen schools. I have also tutored several students for 13+ (100% success rate) and 1 - 4 Scholarship students every year for Westminster, Eton, Harrow, Radley etc. in French, Latin, Mathematics and English, also with 100% success rate. This includes students whom I started tutoring in Year 7 with virtually no knowledge of French or Latin (2017, 2018 exams). I was the sole teacher and tutor for several French and Latin students who all won 13+ scholarships. I have written many of my own resources for French, Latin, Mathematics and English 13+ exams, including unique scholarship exams, for example, Westminster Challenge French.
