Alexa's biography

Alexa is a dynamic, creative and highly experienced teacher, tutor and school leader. Following her undergraduate studies at Oxford and MPhil at Cambridge, Alexa completed her PGCE. Since then, she has taught English, Maths, History, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Ethics and Music to children in state and private schools from ages 5-18. She spent several years teaching 11+ English and Maths and 13+ Common Entrance, preparing students for academic entry to top day and boarding schools including Westminster, Eton, St Paul’s, St Paul’s Girls’, North London Collegiate, and Highgate, as well as tutoring for academic scholarships.

In 2015, Alexa was promoted to Director of Studies and Assistant Head of a highly competitive London prep school, a role which encompassed everything from curriculum, communication and parent-teacher liaison to admissions and school development.

In 2022, Alexa completed an MA in Philosophy and Education at Columbia University, New York. She is currently working as an independent educator and education consultant, based in London.

While working as an independent tutor over the past two years, Alexa's students have been offered places at St Paul's, St Paul's Girls', City of London School, City Juniors, Bancrofts, Putney High, Badminton, Lady Eleanor Holles (11+ scholarship), Emmanuel and Belmont.

During her time as Director of Studies at Trevor-Roberts, Alexa provided class and individual entrance exam teaching for 11+ and 13+ including English, essay-writing, interview practice, writing an argument, critical thinking and verbal/non-verbal reasoning. As Director of Music, she supported students in successful music scholarship applications to Westminster, St Paul's Highgate, Eton, UCS, Francis Holland and North London Collegiate.
