Tutor profile - Graham

With experience as a Deputy Head Academic, Graham has prepared students for a wide range of senior school entrance and scholarship exams, including the 11+ and ISEB Pre-Test. He can support with English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and interview practice. He has taught for over 20 years in the independent sector and studied at Durham University.

Graham is a specialist modern languages teacher (French and German) and was a Head of MFL for many years. He has taught both subjects to GCSE/IGCSE level. Graham also has experience of teaching Religious Studies to Common Entrance and scholarship standard. He adopts an engaging and challenging approach, but believes in the importance of regular consolidation and scaffolding to develop automaticity, confidence, success and creativity.

Graham set up and led his school's online provision throughout the pandemic and has an excellent understanding of how to deliver online lessons effectively using a range of methodologies and by giving regular feedback to his students. A parent remarked that Graham's online tutoring enabled her son to make more progress in three weeks than he had previously in an entire year. Graham has high standards and expects a lot from his students, but has a kind, encouraging and supportive manner. He is passionate about tutoring and its transformative impact on both pupils' attainment and confidence.
